Job summary

Acero Engineering Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Rotating for an 8-month contract in Alberta.

You will manage mechanical deliverables on multiple projects, preparing data sheets, reports and drawings while ensuring compliance with API/ISO standards and client requirements. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, P.Eng registration in Alberta, and at least eight years of EPC experience in Western Canadian oil & gas, with strong knowledge of pumps, compressors and skid-mounted

Qualifications

  • Registration as P.Eng. in Alberta required.
  • Minimum eight years EPC experience in Western Canadian oil and gas.
  • Experience with pumps, compressors and skid-mounted packages.
  • Strong knowledge of API/ISO standards; vendor document review.
  • Ability to work independently with strong written/verbal/analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Apply codes, standards and specs (ASME, ANSI, CSA, API) to equipment and piping.
  • Interact with clients and vendors to manage deliverables.
  • Lead mechanical data sheets and equipment specs for packages.
  • Prepare design calculations, reports and drawings per client requirements.
  • Review vendor equipment design and RFQ documents for compliance.
  • Participate in client/vendor/contractor meetings (HAZOP, design reviews).
  • Direct vendor activities to meet fabrication, installation and commissioning needs.

Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a growing oil & gas facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill one role as a Mechanical Engineer - Rotating (8-month contract role).

Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.

Responsibilities
  • Daily usage of codes, standards and specs pertaining to oil and gas industry equipment, vessels, pipe, etc. This includes, but is not limited to: ASME, ANSI, CSA, API.
  • Client and vendor interaction
  • Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables on multiple projects simultaneously, in a dynamic work environment
  • Prepare mechanical data sheets for mechanical equipment & packages
  • Produce and review documents, design reports, design calculations and drawings in accordance with engineering codes, standards and client requirements.
  • Review the technical data sheets for oil and gas equipment packages systems, technical selection, calculation, sizing and evaluation of packaged equipment
  • Participate in client/vendor/contractor meetings including HAZOP's, model reviews and design reviews
  • Prepare and review mechanical equipment specs and datasheets (RFQ process)
  • Execute and evaluate mechanical bid evaluations for equipment (RFP purchase)
  • Ensure design conformance with specs, industry standards and government regulations
  • Review vendor designs, submissions, drawings and mechanical details/calculations for compliance with RFQ documents and Client/Project requirements
  • Identify and expedite technical information required from other engineering and drafting disciplines in order to carry out scopes of work.
  • Direct vendor activities to ensure that fabrication, installation and operational commissioning meet recognized codes and standards and customer requirements
  • Other tasks/responsibilities, as required
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
  • Minimum Education: Mechanical Engineering Degree is required
  • Must be registered as a P.Eng. in the province of Alberta
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ EPC experience in the Western Canadian Oil & Gas Industry
  • Expertise in pumps, compressors, and skid‑mounted packages to support EPC engineering and procurement activities
  • Strong familiarity with API/ ISO standards, and proven experience in specification development, technical bid evaluation, and vendor document review to ensure equipment performance, reliability, and compliance during the engineering and procurement phases.
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients
