Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related)
• Professional Engineer registration with APEGA in good standing
• 10+ years of project engineering experience in oil & gas, chemical processing, water treatment, or related industries
• Proven track record delivering complex facility scopes >$20MM from FEED through construction and commissioning
• Experience with EPC contractors through FEED, detailed engineering, and construction support phases
• Experience supporting capital procurement programs with equipment/materials from global suppliers
• Experience with material selection for corrosive or sour environments
• Direct experience with sour gas or sour water facilities
• Working knowledge of Alberta regulatory environment for energy and mineral resources
• Demonstrated application of design codes and standards for sour gas processing facilities and gathering pipelines

Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture across the organization
• Lead FEED and detailed engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, and readiness for operations for the inlet handling scope
• Define and manage technical scope, schedule, and risks for inlet handling; escalate budget and execution decisions as needed
• Monitor expenditures and schedule performance; support budget forecasting
• Define engineering milestones and track deliverables to minimize delays
• Track and report KPIs for inlet handling scope
• Serve as primary technical contact between engineering firms, suppliers, and field contractors
• Coordinate interfaces with internal stakeholders to integrate with broader gathering and inlets scope

Senior Project Engineer – Inlet Handling

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a full-time Senior Project Engineer to support the development of the gathering system, well-pad tie-ins, and inlet facilities supplying the Clearwater Central Processing Facility in central Alberta, with work primarily coordinated from the client's corporate headquarters in Calgary.

This role focuses on the upstream surface infrastructure that delivers lithium-rich brine from the Leduc reservoir to the processing facility in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner, including gathering system pipelines, facility inlets (including two-phase separation and degassing), brine storage, as well as lithium-depleted brine outlets (including gas compression and brine discharge pumps).

As the Senior Project Engineer, you will act as the technical lead for the Inlet Handling scope and will be responsible for driving the engineering and execution of this scope through the entire project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Track and report on KPIs established for the inlet handling scope to measure technical progress and cost performance.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact between engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and field contractors for the inlet handling scope.
• Coordinate interfaces with internal stakeholders to ensure the inlet handling design integrates with the broader gathering and inlets scope.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers supporting the inlet handling scope.
• Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction activities delivered by external contractors and consultants for the inlet handling scope, ensuring all work aligns with contract requirements and technical specifications.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related discipline).
• Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA in good standing.
• 10+ years of project engineering experience on facilities in the oil & gas, chemical processing, water treatment, or related industries.
• Proven track record delivering complex facility scopes in excess of $20MM from FEED through construction and commissioning, on time and on budget.
• Experience working alongside EPC contractors through FEED, detailed engineering, and construction and commissioning support phases.
• Experience supporting complex capital procurement programs with equipment and materials sourced from global suppliers.
• Experience with complex material selection for applications in corrosive or sour environments.
• Direct experience with facility projects that handle sour gas or sour water.
• Experience with pipeline routing, design, and installation.
• Working knowledge of Alberta's regulatory environment for the energy and mineral resource sectors.
