Job summary

Lycopodium is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee contracts, billing, and financial reporting for multiple projects in Mississauga. You will partner with Project Managers to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability, while ensuring compliance and timely close.

The role requires strong analytical skills, 5+ years in project accounting, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems. Travel to project locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA enrollment or progress toward designation is an asset.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in a project-based environment.
• Experience in construction, engineering, consulting, infrastructure, or project-driven industries is an asset.
• Experience with project accounting and financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, billing, cost analysis, and month-end activities.
• Strong ability to analyze financial data and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience with project accounting or ERP systems is an asset.
• Ability to collaborate with operational and project teams in a hands-on environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and a highly organized approach.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel to assigned project locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage project contracts, purchase orders, billing, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, customers, and internal teams on billing and compliance.
• Partner with Project Managers to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Monitor costs against budget and investigate variances or unexpected expenses.
• Review expenses for recoverability and necessary investigations.
• Manage accounts receivable activities and collections for projects.
• Prepare monthly project billings and documentation per contract requirements.
• Develop spend plans and forecasts with project teams.
• Lead month-end close, accruals, and revenue recognition for projects.
