Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking a Senior Pricing Developer for the TIMR team to build maintainable actuarial applications with R Shiny and modern UI components. You will design interfaces with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and collaborate with actuaries to translate business needs into robust software.

You will contribute to a growing portfolio, apply best practices, and work in a hybrid environment with opportunities to advance professionally within home and auto insurance pricing and actuarial domains.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Degree in a quantitative field (actuarial, math, CS, engineering).
• Strong JavaScript, HTML, and CSS skills.
• Ability to independently design and implement user interfaces.
• Experience with R or Python/SAS; willingness to learn R.
• Solid fundamentals: version control, testing, code review.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features for actuarial applications built with R Shiny.
• Design and enhance UIs using JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Develop shared JavaScript components to improve maintainability.
• Refactor R code to reuse JS components.
• Collaborate with actuaries and stakeholders to translate needs into solutions.
• Build and maintain automated UI tests.
• Follow engineering best practices: reviews, testing, documentation.
