Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking an experienced pricing professional to lead development, enhancement, and monitoring of pricing and ratemaking models. You will analyze portfolio performance, forecast trends, and collaborate across Product, Underwriting, Claims, and Distribution to promote profitability and growth.

The role requires a strong actuarial background, progression toward ACAS/FCAS, and at least 4 years of P&C experience, with a preference for senior analyst exposure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Math, Statistics or related field.
  • Working towards ACAS/FCAS designation.
  • Minimum 4 years of P&C experience, including 2 years as a Senior Analyst preferred.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical background; actuarial curiosity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, enhancement, and monitoring of pricing and ratemaking models.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics to inform pricing actions.
  • Develop actuarially sound rate indications and proposals for profitability and growth.
  • Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Business Development on pricing initiatives.
  • Consolidate insights from actuarial and analytics centers to inform pricing decisions.
  • Apply traditional and advanced analytical methods to pricing challenges.
  • Prepare and support regulatory rate filings and document pricing processes.
  • Manage pricing projects, timelines, and stakeholder communications.
  • Coach junior staff and mentor analysts.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead the development, enhancement, and monitoring of pricing and ratemaking models, methodologies, and processes.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, emerging experience, market trends, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities and recommend pricing actions.
  • Develop actuarially sound rate indications and ratemaking proposals to support profitability, growth, and customer retention objectives.
  • Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Business Development partners on strategic pricing and broker initiatives.
  • Consolidate insights from actuarial, analytics, and other centers of excellence to formulate pricing recommendations and business decisions.
  • Research and apply traditional actuarial techniques as well as advanced analytical methods to solve business challenges and enhance pricing effectiveness.
  • Prepare and support regulatory rate filings and document actuarial pricing processes, methodologies, and models.
  • Manage pricing and ratemaking projects, overseeing technical design, scope, timelines, implementation, and stakeholder communications.
  • Coach junior staff and act as a technical expert and mentor for senior and junior analysts.
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Math or Statistics or other related subjects.
  • Working towards ACAS/FCAS designation.
  • Minimum 4 years of P&C work experience, including 2 years of experience as a Senior Analyst is preferred. Focus on enhancing the customer experience.
  • Actuarial curiosity to learn and explore new solutions.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical background.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in programming.

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $105,000 to $134,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
