Job summary

Aviva Canada seeks a pricing actuary to lead pricing models and ratemaking initiatives, collaborating with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Business Development. You will analyze market trends and performance to propose pricing actions that drive profitability and customer retention.

The role requires ACAS/FCAS progress, 4+ years P&C experience, strong math skills, and programming proficiency. Hybrid work model and comprehensive rewards are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math or statistics.
• P&C actuarial pricing experience.
• Working towards ACAS/FCAS designation.
• Minimum 4 years of P&C experience, 2 years as Senior Analyst preferred.
• Strong mathematical and statistical background.
• Proficiency in programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, enhancement, and monitoring of pricing and ratemaking models, methodologies, and processes.
• Analyze portfolio performance, emerging experience, market trends, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities and pricing actions.
• Develop actuarially sound rate indications and ratemaking proposals to support profitability, growth, and customer retention.
• Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Business Development on pricing and broker initiatives.
• Consolidate insights from actuarial, analytics, and centers of excellence to formulate pricing recommendations.
• Research and apply traditional actuarial techniques and advanced analytics to pricing challenges.
• Prepare and support regulatory rate filings and document pricing processes and models.
• Manage pricing projects, oversee design, scope, timelines, and stakeholders.
• Coach junior staff and mentor analysts.

What you'll do:

• Coach junior staff and act as a technical expert and mentor for senior and junior analysts.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Math or Statistics or other related subjects.
• Working towards ACAS/FCAS designation.
• Minimum 4 years of P&C work experience, including 2 years of experience as a Senior Analyst is preferred.
• Focus on enhancing the customer experience.
• Actuarial curiosity to learn and explore new solutions.
• Strong mathematical and statistical background.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in programming.
