Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking a Senior Pricing Developer on the TIMR team to modernize actuarial tooling. You will own UI design and implementation, using R Shiny, JavaScript, HTML and CSS to deliver maintainable interfaces.

You’ll work with actuaries and stakeholders to shape practical, scalable solutions, respecting established software engineering practices. The role offers a hybrid work model, a salary band from CAD 80,000 to CAD 110,000, and rewards including bonus eligibility and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• Strong JavaScript, HTML, and CSS skills.
• Experience with R or Python/SAS; willingness to learn R.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features for actuarial applications built with R Shiny.
• Design and enhance user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Develop shared JavaScript components to improve maintainability.
• Refactor R code to leverage reusable JavaScript components where appropriate.
• Collaborate with actuaries and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Build and maintain automated UI test suites.
• Adhere to software engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Help shape the technical direction of the actuarial applications portfolio.
