Job summary

A leading utility contractor is seeking Journeyperson Powerline Technicians to join the team in Ontario. Responsibilities include constructing and maintaining electrical power distribution systems, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring safety protocols. Candidates require PLT certification, strong experience in utility work, and a valid driver's license. This is a union position with benefits provided by the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) certification is mandatory.
• Experience in the utility or electrical construction sector is required.
• Valid Driver's Licence with acceptable Driver's Abstract needed.

Responsibilities

• Erect and maintain steel/wood poles and install power lines.
• Perform testing and installation of underground cables and equipment.
• Lead or assist with job hazard assessments and ensure safety compliance.

Skills

Journeyperson Powerline Technician (PLT) certification

Proven experience in the utility or electrical construction sector

Direct power distribution experience

Valid Driver's Licence (Preference for Commercial Driver's Licence)

Demonstrated experience in energized work, system switching, and UG installations

Class 4 Rubber Glove experience

Strong understanding of construction and maintenance practices for distribution systems

Proficiency in reading construction prints and electrical schematics

Preference for Confined Space Certificate, UWPC, Working at Heights Cert, First Aid (CPR/AED)
