Job summary

NLB Services in Toronto, ON is seeking an experienced BI professional to lead Power BI development and data architecture for public sector projects. You will design enterprise semantic models, develop dashboards, and ensure governance and security across the BI stack.

Expect to work on Databricks-based data sources, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and Synapse, with strong data modeling, RLS, and CI/CD expertise guiding delivery.

Description

NOTE

Assignment Type: This position is listed as Onsite; the resource is expected to work 7.25 hours per calendar day between the standard working hours of 8:00-5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks) every Monday to Friday inclusive at the identified Client office location.

Responsibilities:

Power BI / Business Intelligence Solution Development (representing 60% of time)

• Design and develop Power BI semantic models,
• Connect and integrate Databricks data sources,
• Implement DAX measures and KPIs,
• Build dashboards and reports,
• Configure security and RLS,
• Support testing and deployment, and provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer

Data architecture for ADDS Power BI solution (representing 40% of time)

• Data Flow Diagrams
• Conceptual/Logical/Physical Data Models

• Role model and security design, including Row-Level Security Design
• Data Governance Framework
• Performance & Capacity Plan

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Public Sector Experience

• 3 years public sector/healthcare experience

Power BI & Business Intelligence Hands-on Development Skills

• 7+ years of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics experience.
• 5+ years of Power BI development experience.
• Expert-level DAX, Power Query, and data modeling skills.
• Advanced SQL and data warehouse development experience.
• Ability to design enterprise semantic models and reporting architectures.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Experience mentoring developers and leading BI initiatives.

Business Analysis Skills

• Strong experience of working with business team to identify and gather requirements for Business Intelligence enhancements or defect fix items
• Experience in performing deep-dive data analysis to resolve data issues and answer questions from business
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills
• 7+ years of experience in data architecture supporting BI/reporting solutions
• Expert knowledge of dimensional modeling, star schemas and enterprise data warehouse design
• Strong experience designing Power BI semantic models and enterprise reporting solutions
• Strong experience with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Synapse and SQL Server
• Experience implementing data governance, security and performance optimization strategies
• Ability to translate business requirements into Power BI and scalable BI data architecture solutions

Assignment Type: Onsite - 5 days in the office
