Job summary

Immigration Care in Alberta is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee daily potato production operations, manage equipment, and lead a team of farm workers through seeding and harvest. This full-time role requires hands-on leadership in outdoor conditions and a strong work ethic.

You will plan field activities, monitor crop health, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and maintain detailed records.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years related experience in farming or agriculture.
Must have professional English language skills.
Experience with potato farming considered a strong asset.
Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license; Class 3 or 1 is an asset.

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate all daily farm operations related to potato cultivation, from soil preparation through harvest and storage
Plan and schedule field activities including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest management, and harvesting operations
Monitor crop health and growth stages, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective measures promptly
Maintain detailed records of field activities, crop yields, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules
Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines
Coordinate with agronomists and farm management to implement crop management strategies
Operate a wide range of agricultural equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, harvesters, and irrigation systems
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment to minimize downtime
