Job summary

Vanco Farms Ltd. in Prince Edward Island is seeking a Potato Farm Technician to join our hands-on farming team.

You will safely operate tractors and other potato farming equipment, support planting, cultivating, harvesting, loading, storage and ventilation tasks, and perform routine inspections and basic maintenance. We value mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently or with a team, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Experience operating tractors and agricultural equipment
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform minor maintenance
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work extended hours during busy planting and harvest seasons
• Valid driver's license is preferred

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tractors and a variety of agricultural equipment used in potato farming operations
• Operate farm machinery during planting, cultivating, harvest, loading and other seasonal farming activities
• Operate farm equipment to move potatoes, crops and farm materials safely and efficiently within the farm and storage operations
• Complete daily inspections of agriculture equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance
• Monitor equipment during operation, identify mechanical issues and report problems requiring further repair
• Follow all workplace safety and food safety procedures
• Work with the farm team to support daily and seasonal potato production and storage operations
• Assist with monitoring and operating farm storage ventilation equipment as required to maintain appropriate potato storage conditions
• Monitor storage temperature, humidity and airflow and report conditions that may affect the proper storage of potatoes
• Assist with basic maintenance of farm storage and ventilation equipment as part of routine farm operations

Job Details

• $24.00-$27.00 per hour
• Full-Time - Permanent
• 50 hours per week
• Experience - 2+ years
• Class 5, Class 3, or Class 1 license
