Job summary

Assembly of First Nations (AFN) seeks a Senior Policy Analyst, Justice, to conduct research, analyze information, and advise on policing, community safety, restorative justice, and governance reforms. You will contribute to national advocacy positions and support First Nations-led justice policies and frameworks.

The role involves data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and policy development, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree as specified with relevant policy experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in research, information analysis and policy in First Nations communities.
  • Experience writing proposals and reports and synthesizing information into policy positions.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze complex justice-sector information relevant to First Nations issues.
  • Develop First Nations-led justice policies by interpreting data and engaging stakeholders.
  • Provide policy recommendations impacting First Nations.
  • Maintain datasets and information repositories.
  • Support sector-specific work plans and strategic planning.
  • Draft briefing notes, speaking notes, and leadership correspondence.
  • Build networks with First Nations communities regionally and nationally.
  • Lead meetings, engagements, and consultations with internal/external parties.
  • Provide project management and technical support for AFN projects and procurement.
