Job summary

Assembly of First Nations seeks a Policy Analyst to advance national policy positions on First Nations homelessness and related priorities. The role involves researching policies, drafting proposals, and coordinating with government, educational institutions, and communities.

You will report to the Director and support AFN’s advocacy work across Canada. We value rigorous analysis, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in relevant field with 3–5 years policy experience.
• Experience in policy analysis, preferably with First Nations.
• Strong understanding of international agreements and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on First Nations policies and best practices.
• Develop policy proposals based on findings and consultations.
• Evaluate existing policies to identify gaps and inefficiencies.
• Collaborate with government, educational institutions and First Nations.
• Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
• Present findings to partners and government officials.
• Build and maintain partnerships with communities and stakeholders.
• Stay informed about developments affecting First Nations concerns.
• Support AFN working groups and coordinate meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
