Job summary

Bluehost, part of Newfold Digital, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead backend/infrastructure architecture for its Hosting platform. You will guide large-scale Python services on Linux with MySQL, modernize Perl/cPanel systems, and advance SRE practices across the org.

You will mentor senior engineers, shape multi-quarter roadmaps, and own AI-augmented delivery standards to ensure reliability and security across production systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years backend/infrastructure engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architecture standards for backend and infrastructure systems across the Hosting org.
• Design and evolve large-scale Python backend services running on Linux, backed by MySQL at production scale.
• Guide modernization of Perl-based and cPanel-integrated systems without disrupting live sites or provisioning.
• Drive site reliability engineering practice across Hosting, partnering with DevOps and SRE on incident response and hardening.
• Own the org-wide standard for AI-augmented delivery, governance, licensing, provenance and data prompts.
• Lead root-cause analysis on complex production issues and implement durable architectural fixes.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers to raise the technical bar across the org.
• Partner with engineering leadership to shape multi-quarter technical roadmaps for Bluehost's growth.
