Job summary

Town of Newmarket is seeking a Senior Planner Development to manage development applications under the Planning Act, prepare reports, and appear at Local Planning Appeal Tribunal hearings. You will work closely with Planning & Building staff and interact with community members on planning matters.

The position requires a University degree in Urban Planning, an active RPP and MCIP, and solid knowledge of provincial planning policies.

Qualifications

• University degree in Urban Planning or related discipline with municipal planning experience.
• Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and MCIP membership.

Responsibilities

• Review, analysis and processing of development applications under the Planning Act.
• Research and preparation of reports and other correspondence.
• Appear as a witness at Local Planning Appeal Tribunal hearings.
• Interact with community members to address planning matters.
• Respond to requests for planning information.
