Job summary

Town of Newmarket is seeking a Sr Planner Development to join the Planning & Building division. You will review development applications, prepare technical reports, and represent the town at Local Planning Appeal Tribunal hearings.

Strong community engagement and planning policy knowledge are essential. University degree in Urban Planning with RPP/MCIP is required; MS Office, Accela and GIS proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• University degree in Urban Planning or related discipline; municipal planning experience preferred.
• Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with OPI and MCIP membership.
• Extensive knowledge of Planning Act, PPS, Growth Plan and provincial policies.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Accela, GIS; able to work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review, analysis and processing of development applications under the Planning Act.
• Prepare reports and correspondence; appear at hearings as required.
• Interact with community members to address planning matters.
• Respond to requests for planning information with accuracy and professionalism.
