Job summary

Cargojet, Canada’s leading overnight air cargo carrier, seeks a Manager of Payroll to lead end-to-end payroll operations across all employee groups. The role requires hands-on UKG Pro and UKG WFM expertise, ensuring accurate processing, compliance, and data integrity.

You will guide a payroll team, handle annual filings, remittances, and audits, and collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors to optimize workflows and controls.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive Canadian payroll experience.
• 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• PLP designation required.
• Extensive hands-on experience with UKG Pro Payroll.
• Hands-on experience with UKG Workforce Management (WFM).
• Experience leading end-to-end UKG implementations including requirements, configuration, testing/UAT.
• Experience in multi-province or federally regulated payroll environment preferred; union experience a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing bi-weekly across all employee groups.
• Lead and supervise the payroll team; provide training and performance management.
• Review and validate payroll transactions (hires, terminations, changes, bonuses, leaves).
• Ensure statutory deductions, benefits, pension contributions, and remittances are accurate and timely.
• Ensure compliance with federal/provincial legislation, CRA, and collective agreements.
• Lead payroll audits, reconciliations, year-end, and statutory reporting.
• Maintain documentation and process controls; update configurations as needed.
• Collaborate with HR, IT, Finance, and vendors on system upgrades and data integrity.
