Job summary

Royal York Property Management is seeking a Senior Paralegal – Litigation, LTB & Collections to manage residential tenancy, Small Claims Court litigation, collections and judgment enforcement in a hybrid GTA setting.

5+ years of Ontario paralegal experience (7+ preferred), strong Small Claims Court litigation and LTB experience, and proven file management. Prepare pleadings, appear in court where permitted, and help develop efficient recovery strategies for a high-volume portfolio.

Qualifications

• Licensed Paralegal in Ontario in good standing with the Law Society.
• Minimum 5 years Ontario paralegal experience; 7+ years preferred.
• Strong hands-on Small Claims Court litigation experience.
• Demonstrated experience conducting Small Claims Court trials.
• Strong landlord-side LTB experience.
• Experience with plaintiff and defence matters, motions, collections, and judgment enforcement.
• Strong advocacy, legal drafting, negotiation, and file-management skills.
• Ability to independently assess files and determine next steps.
• Comfortable managing a high volume of active matters simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Manage plaintiff and defence matters from commencement through resolution.
• Defend claims and commence claims where appropriate.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, affidavits, evidence, and settlement materials.
• Conduct Small Claims Court trials and other appearances.
• Prepare witnesses, conduct examinations and cross-examinations, and make submissions.
• Handle service, defaults, and court-order procedural issues.
• Assess liability, damages, litigation risk, and settlement opportunities.
• Manage landlord-side LTB matters including rent arrears and termination of tenancies.
• Prepare notices, applications, evidence, and hearing materials.
• Conduct LTB hearings and negotiate resolutions where appropriate.
• Manage high-volume portfolio of collections and enforcement matters.
• Assess debts for enforceability and recovery potential; commence proceedings when needed.
• Develop efficient recovery strategies across many small debts.
