Job summary

ME Law Professional Corporation in Toronto is seeking a dedicated Law Clerk or Paralegal to support our civil litigation practice. The role focuses on pleadings, affidavits, and document management for high-stakes disputes.

You will work closely with experienced litigators, handling discovery, procedural deadlines, and client communications to drive efficient case progression. This is an on-site position with professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in civil litigation as a Law Clerk or Paralegal.
• Law Clerk or Paralegal diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario civil litigation procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple files, competing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines with a high degree of organization.
• Excellent legal drafting, written communication and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with legal practice management software (Cosmolex or similar).

Responsibilities

• Assisting counsel with the preparation of pleadings, motion records, application records, affidavits, and other court materials.
• Prepare Affidavits of Documents, productions, undertakings charts, and discovery materials and related litigation documents.
• Filing and serving court documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable practice directions.
• Coordinating examinations for discovery, hearings, mediations, motions and other litigation events.
• Maintaining well-organized litigation files and proactively monitoring limitation periods and procedural deadlines.
• Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, experts and other stakeholders as required.
• Providing day-to-day litigation support to counsel and contributing to the efficient management and progression of files.
