  • Coordinate HR issues with the HR team and ensure safety compliance.
  • Support Track and Trace implementation and scanning compliance.
  • Travel to outlying depots as required and manage branch staff development.

Job description

DHL Express is looking for a Senior Operations Manager - Service Centre at its Brampton, Ontario facility. This senior leadership role is responsible for operational performance, cost optimization, team development, and labour relations within a unionized service centre environment.

Responsibilities
  • Establish superior customer service performance indicators and meet/exceed standards for on-time delivery, tracing, dispatch, claims, and missed pick-ups
  • Responsibility for cost optimization of the facility
  • Manage employee/labour relations through appropriate application of the Collective Agreement
  • Manage all local Human Resources issues in alignment with the HR team
  • Ensure successful implementation, continued application and maintenance of Track and Trace technology including scanning compliance
  • Monitor and improve EBIT through profitable revenue growth, management of P.U.D. costs, handling, and on-time data entry
  • Assist in the development of long and short-range service centre objectives and plans
  • Prepare the service centre profit plan and submit for approval and execution
  • Identify and track route service standards and adjust operations as required
  • Organize, assign responsibility and develop competent branch staff through training and counselling
  • Provide leadership, communication, and motivation to service centre management and staff
  • Ensure staff compliance with company standards including Occupational Health & Safety, Transport of Dangerous Goods, and WCB
  • Process branch paperwork and prepare required reports and statistics
  • Travel to and manage outlying depots as required
  • Achieve area branch Track & Trace targets and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • 3–5 years management experience in a medium to large service company, preferably transportation
  • University degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience and success in leadership positions
  • Demonstrated general accounting, finance and administration experience
  • Good communication skills — written and verbal
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities
