Job description

DHL Express is seeking an Operations Supervisor (PUD Sort) at its Hamilton, Ontario facility (Mount Hope). This hands‑on supervisory role oversees the sortation of packages to assigned delivery routes within prescribed standards of cost, efficiency, accuracy, and on‑time distribution.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, orient, train, schedule, manage and recommend discipline for all operations staff
• Establish and implement productivity, quality and cost measurements and strategies to achieve desired operational results
• Coach and develop team members through ongoing feedback and recognition
• Monitor team progress against goals and targets on a regular basis
• Ensure timely and accurate distribution of inbound and outgoing freight daily in accordance with established standards and procedures
• Complete accurate and timely reports for management (staff schedules, attendance records, payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, WSB reports)
• Ensure successful implementation and continued application of scanning technology
• Communicate corporate strategic plan and recognize individual and team contributions to motivate staff
• Ensure sufficient staff resources, materials and supplies on hand at all times
• Ensure warehouse is organized and set up for next shift
• Maintain equipment in safe, efficient operating condition at all times
• Establish and maintain a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
• Implement and follow up on Customer Service solutions as determined by Sales resource team
• Address customer complaints and escalated items in a professional, expedient manner

Requirements

• Experience in a warehouse sortation capacity
• Experience managing Pick-up and Delivery operations is an asset
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management position (warehouse or logistics industry is an asset)
• Knowledge and compliance with Dangerous Goods / WHMIS special handling procedures
• Ability to make quick decisions and be agile to changing circumstances
• Prior working experience with lean / process improvement initiatives
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work independently
• Proven communication skills — written and oral
• Working knowledge and interpretation of Collective Agreements and Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Demonstrated drive, initiative and flexibility to ensure task completion
• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
• College or University designation
