Job summary

AltaLink is seeking a Meteorologist, Wildfire & Ops Specialist in Calgary to forecast weather, interpret wildfire risk, and provide decision-support for 24/7 Control Centre and wildfire mitigation programs. You will own AltaLink’s weather tools and models, coordinate with field operations, and translate weather data into actionable guidance for crews and leaders year-round.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Meteorology or related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in operational meteorology or related disciplines.
Proficiency with meteorological analysis tools, weather models, radar/satellite data, and GIS.

Responsibilities

Provide daily and event-based weather forecasting and operational guidance.
Monitor weather conditions and hazards relevant to electric utility operations.
Translate meteorological information into actionable guidance for leaders and crews.
Lead AltaLink’s weather intelligence tools, forecasting processes, and dashboards.
Oversee weather station network data quality and operational readiness.
