Job summary

Pomerleau is seeking an experienced Senior MEP Estimator for the Building Operations team in Canada. You will support growth on large-scale projects and work with proposals, clients and partners to secure bids and drive project success.

You will leverage trade-driven knowledge, lead estimation efforts, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to optimize bid outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in estimating in the ICI construction industry.
• Degree or diploma in construction project estimation.
• Experience with Accubid Anywhere and estimation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Perform a quantitative evaluation of materials and manpower and verify estimators' quantities.
• Prepare quantity summaries per plans and specs by trade sections.
• Identify project-specific prices for labour, equipment and materials.
• Maintain relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients.
• Review supplier/subcontractor amounts against bid documents.
• Coordinate estimation for design-build projects.
• Support in sourcing new subcontractors and suppliers.
• Suggest bid-document alternatives to reduce costs.
• Mentor junior team members on best practices.

As an experienced Senior MEP Estimator in the Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

What You Will Do

• Perform a quantitative evaluation of materials and manpower required for the work deemed decisive and verify the quantities given by the estimators.
• Prepare the summary of quantities according to the plans and specs and by sorting them according to the standardized sections and functions of the trades involved.
• Identify project-specific prices related to key items including labor, equipment and materials.
• Grow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
• Thoroughly review all received amounts from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring their alignment with bid documents during compilation and bid closings.
• Take part in and/or coordinate the various parties involved in the estimation of a design-build project.
• Support in the search for new contacts subcontractors, suppliers, and work providers.
• Suggest and quantify alternatives to bid documents to reduce construction costs of bid projects.
• Act as a role model and mentor for your junior team members, providing coaching and guidance on best practices and trade secrets.

This Role Could Be For You If You Have

• A University Degree or College Diploma in Construction project estimation or a combination of education and industry experience.
• 8+ years’ relevant experience in estimating in the ICI construction industry.
• Experience implementing and administering Accubid Anywhere, beyond being a typical end user.
• Experience building assemblies, maintaining databases, and supporting overall platform configuration and optimization.
• Strong design-build estimating experience.
• Experience estimating low-voltage systems, including Nurse Call, Security, CCTV, Wi‑Fi, RTLS, DAS, and similar integrated technologies.
• Strong knowledge of excavation and formwork.
• Previous experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
• Strong experience working with estimation software.
