Job summary

City of Waterloo is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Mechanical to lead mechanical engineering oversight on large capital projects across City facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy systems.

You will coordinate design, procurement, and construction activities, prepare cost estimates, and ensure compliance with building codes and sustainability policies while engaging consultants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical engineering required.
• P.Eng license in Ontario preferred/required.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and building codes.
• Experience with municipal or large-scale facilities projects.
• Ability to manage budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical engineering for large-scale capital projects.
• Coordinate design, procurement, and construction across City facilities.
• Prepare cost estimates and assist in value engineering.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, Building Code, and Green Building policies.
• Lead design discussions with consultants and contractors.
• Support Building Maintenance and energy programs.
