Job summary

Englobe is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Team in Atlantic Canada. You will lead HVAC-focused building projects, provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients, project teams, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will drive design concepts, calculations, specifications, and drawings, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and promote health and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with the applicable provincial engineering association.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical building systems design with a focus on HVAC systems.
• Proven experience delivering commercial, institutional, multi-unit residential, and light industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building systems, energy-efficient design practices, applicable codes, standards, and industry regulations.
• Experience managing projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and client communications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and HVAC design tools; Revit is considered an asset.
• Strong report writing, technical documentation, and proposal development skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff.
• Experience supporting business development and client growth initiatives is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism (English and French) would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate health and safety leadership and ensure compliance with policies and requirements.
• Lead the mechanical design of HVAC-focused building projects across commercial, institutional, multi-unit residential, and light industrial sectors.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technologists, and project teams.
• Develop concepts, calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, and contract documents.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver on schedule, budget, and quality.
• Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and project support.
• Support business development through proposals and client engagement.
• Assist in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Liaise with regulators, contractors, architects, and stakeholders for approvals.
• Promote continuous improvement and innovative design practices.
