Job summary

Worley invites applicants for Principal Mechanical Engineer – HVAC in Canada. Based in Calgary or Edmonton, you will lead HVAC design across major projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure quality and compliance with codes.

You will coordinate with project teams, vendors, and construction, while guiding design decisions and technical direction. The role requires a strong HVAC background in oil & gas, energy transition, and heavy industrial facilities, with heritage in ASHRAE/NFPA/CSA/SMACNA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or eligible for registration.
• Demonstrated senior-level HVAC design experience in industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review HVAC design deliverables, criteria, specs, data sheets, requisitions, bid evaluations, and recommendations.
• Perform HVAC system design and calculations including loads, ventilation, pressurization, duct sizing, and equipment selection.
• Develop and review layouts, coordination with other disciplines, and equipment placement.
• Conduct site visits for field support, constructability reviews, and commissioning.
• Serve as primary technical contact for vendors and documentation review.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Coordinate scope with management, procurement, construction, and client teams.
• Maintain quality across HVAC deliverables throughout the lifecycle.
• Support global work-share and review outsourced deliverables for accuracy.
• Contribute to scope, estimates, TIC inputs, and resource loading.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Support or lead Mechanical Discipline/Package Lead roles as needed.
