Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering commitments for defence-related buildings and infrastructure projects across multiple locations. You will apply PM principles, mentor staff, and ensure project success through technical guidance and QA.

The role requires a P.Eng license, 10+ years of design experience, and willingness to travel; CISD Level II clearance is preferred. Hybrid work culture and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical engineering.
• P. Eng licensure with eligibility for registration in multiple Canadian provinces.
• 10+ years of relevant design experience with National Defence projects.
• Experience selecting and specifying mechanical building systems and site utilities.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards.
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment with time, resources, and budget management.
• Strong client focus; business development, marketing, and responding to RFPs.
• Willing to travel occasionally to project sites in Canada.
• Ability to obtain CISD Level II (SECRET) Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead role for the mechanical engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion.
• Resolving complex design/project execution issues through the development of innovative solutions as required.
• Apply Project Management principles on management of own projects and of team members.
• Manage mechanical staff resources assigned to projects, mentor continuous development and participate in opportunities to recruit new team members.
• Providing technical guidance and quality assurance to mechanical staff to ensure the technical adequacy of mechanical engineering project work.
• Participating in the preparation of estimates and project proposals (or coordinating resources to do so) and approving the estimates for Mechanical Engineering.
