Job summary

TPD® Workforce Solutions seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Vaughan, Ontario, with strong underground shaft sinking expertise. The role balances design engineering with occasional site visits and interaction with a multi-disciplinary team of ~60 engineers.

You’ll lead hoist systems design and study work for new and existing EPC projects, including client and vendor meetings to source equipment and services.

Qualifications

• Underground engineering experience at senior level is required.
• Shaft sinking and hoist systems design experience is essential.
• Consulting engineering background is preferred (e.g., similar to large firms).
• Comfort with design engineering work and occasional site visits.

Job description

• $120,000–$160,000 base, potentially higher depending on experience

Requirements

• Senior Mechanical Engineer, ideally not purely site-based
• Experience with underground shaft sinking projects strongly preferred (though hard to find)
• Consulting engineering background (e.g., Stantec-type experience) would be a good fit
• Comfortable with design engineering work, plus occasional site visits
• Able to work on hoist systems and shaft sinking design
• Strong underground engineering expertise at the senior level is critical
• Will interact with a variety of disciplines across a ~60-engineer team, with much of the work driven by the structural team
• Involves meetings with clients and vendors to source equipment/services as needed
• Work will include study work for new clients, upcoming projects the company hopes to be awarded, and existing EPC projects (e.g., in Sudbury)
