Job summary

Fluor Corp in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Material Handling Engineer (Mechanical) to lead design and delivery on bulk material handling projects. This contract role requires a licensed/eligible P.Eng. and 10+ years in mechanical engineering for heavy industrial facilities.

You will oversee engineering work, review vendor submittals, develop specs, and optimize conveyors, reclaim systems, and storage solutions, ensuring alignment with project objectives and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on bulk material handling and heavy industrial projects
• Ability to work collaboratively, lead technical initiatives, and support project delivery
• Strong communication, organizational, and management skills
• Knowledge of conveyor system design principles and industry standards
• Experience with material handling equipment such as conveyors, crushers, screens, reclaim systems, and loading/unloading facilities
• Understanding of engineering drawings and process flow diagrams (PFDs)

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by planning, assigning, and overseeing engineering work while managing scope, quality, and schedule expectations.
• Review vendor proposals, technical documentation, drawings, and equipment submittals.
• Conduct engineering reviews, risk assessments, and design optimization studies to improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure designs are aligned with project objectives, operational requirements, and industry standards.
• Develop technical specifications, design criteria, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
• Design and evaluate material transport and storage solutions, including conveyors, stockpiles, bins, hoppers, and reclaim systems.
• Lead the engineering and design of bulk material handling systems, including equipment selection, sizing, and layout development for conveying, storage, and processing applications.
• Perform additional tasks as required.
