Materials Handling Designer – Burnaby, BC

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior engineering staff on the detailed design, 3D modelling, and drafting of mechanical and bulk materials handling systems.
• Develop both conceptual layouts and detailed designs, ranging from small maintenance upgrades (e.g., conveyor drives) to large terminal infrastructure.
• Produce clear and accurate 3D models and drawings for various stages of design, from feasibility to construction.
• Prepare quantity take-offs to support capital cost estimates and project planning.
• Integrate point cloud and geospatial data into design workflows using appropriate software tools.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (civil, structural, electrical) to ensure design integration and consistency.

Qualifications:

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or eligible for registration.
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, preferably within the bulk materials handling or heavy industrial sector.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
• Experience working with lidar point clouds and integrating georeferenced data into 3D models.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to drafting standards and quality deliverables.

Compensation: Base pay range: CA$90,000.00/yr - CA$130,000.00/yr (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Location: On-site in Burnaby, BC.
