About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and client-focused senior level Materials Handling Engineer and Project Manager to join our Burnaby team. This leadership role emphasizes project delivery and technical excellence, engaging directly with clients to develop solutions that align with their business objectives. The successful candidate will combine strategic insight with technical proficiency in bulk materials handling systems and infrastructure, while also demonstrating strong project management and leadership capabilities.

Advisory Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals, operational challenges, and infrastructure needs.
  • Strategic Solutions: Develop and recommend materials handling strategies that enhance operational efficiency and support clients' long-term objectives.
  • Feasibility Studies: Lead assessments to evaluate the viability of proposed projects or develop concepts to address clients' needs, considering technical, financial, and regulatory factors.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a trusted advisor, facilitating clear and effective communication between clients, project teams, and other stakeholders.

Technical Responsibilities

  • System Design: Oversee the design, selection, modification, repair, or optimization of mechanical and materials handling systems.
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure engineering solutions meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
  • Innovation: Identify opportunities to incorporate innovative technologies and methodologies to improve system performance and sustainability.
  • Field Work: Carry out site visits as required to respond to client requests.

Requirements

  • Experience: 10–15 years in mechanical engineering, with a focus on bulk materials handling infrastructure and demonstrated advisory experience.
  • Professional Registration: Registered as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Client Focus: Proven ability to engage with clients, understand their needs, and deliver solutions that drive business value.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of materials handling systems design, implementation, and optimization.
