Job summary

Axiom Group Inc. is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead automotive assembly and automation development, from feasibility to production handoff. You will design process flows, specify equipment, and manage suppliers while driving DFA, PFMEA, and APQP across programs.

You will work with robotics, machine vision, controls, and data capture to optimize cycle times, labor, and throughput, mentoring engineers, and leading cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Experience with complex automated assembly systems and DFMA concepts.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing environments including plastics molding.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

• Lead manufacturing feasibility and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews for new products, engineering changes, transfers, and capacity expansions.
• Develop manufacturing strategies for complex automotive assemblies, including process flow, assembly sequence, automation level, material flow, inspection, testing, traceability, and error-proofing.
• Develop and validate manual, semi-automated, and fully automated assembly processes.
• Lead the development and integration of multi-station automated assembly systems.
• Work with robotics, automated material handling, machine vision, sensing, controls, inspection, functional testing, and data acquisition.
• Develop cycle-time, line-balance, labor, capacity, equipment, layout, and capital requirements.
• Lead RFQs, equipment specifications, technical scopes of work, acceptance criteria, and supplier deliverables.
• Manage equipment suppliers through concept, design, build, FAT, installation, SAT, capability studies, run-at-rate, and production handoff.
• Lead manufacturing engineering activities during new program launches and major process changes, working closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Automation, Maintenance, Tooling, Molding, Purchasing, and suppliers.
• Develop and maintain APQP and IATF 16949 documentation, including process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, error-proofing plans, work instructions, capability studies, and engineering-change documentation.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives focused on automation, equipment reliability, cycle time, labor optimization, quality, capacity, and material flow.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior and plant-level Manufacturing Engineers.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Engineering Technology graduates with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.
• 7+ years of progressive Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes for complex assemblies in an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a plastic injection molding production environment is required, including knowledge of post-mold handling, automation, and assembly interfaces.
• Experience with complex automated assembly systems involving:
  • Robotics

  • Machine vision and sensing

  • Functional testing
  • Traceability
  • Error-proofing
• Experience developing equipment specifications and RFQs and managing equipment suppliers from concept through production acceptance.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, capability studies, run-at-rate, structured problem solving, and IATF 16949.
• Working knowledge of automation controls, robotics, industrial networks, machine safety, and equipment integration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable layout/design software.
