What is the opportunity?
This role is an excellent opportunity for a strategic operations leader with strong data expertise to drive operational and business value within RBC Wealth Management Operations. You will lead a highly specialized quality control team, applying advanced analytics, process improvement, and operational risk management to strengthen processes and elevate client and employee experience. This role offers direct visibility to senior leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence the design of the future-state of operations within the New Account and Documentation function.
What will you do?
- Lead a team of Operations Associates and Specialists with CIRO registration, ensuring consistent and high-quality processing while fostering a high-performance culture focused of continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Analyze complex data sets, reconciliation reports, processing volumes, errors, and quality control metrics to provide actionable insights on weekly trends and individual/team performance, while also identifying systemic issues and improvement opportunities.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and advanced visualizations using Tableau or other business intelligence tools to deliver real-time visibility to operational performance, risks, and KPIs.
- Proactively distill complex operational and client challenges into actionable insights that inform business priorities, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.
- Act as a trusted advisor to New Accounts & Documentation leadership and cross-functional partners, providing subject matter expertise and identifying emerging operational risks, regulatory trends, and efficiency opportunities.
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis on reconciliation breaks and data discrepancies across all processes, proposing scalable solutions to strengthen processes and enhance risk controls.
- Partner with operational teams, technology, risk, compliance, legal and business stakeholders to design and implement effective control enhancements and process automation initiatives.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- University Degree with 8+ years of financial services experience, ideally in operations, data management, risk management, or large-scale process transformation
- Proven experience in SQL, Python, or equivalent for complex data extraction, manipulation, and analysis, combined with experience using Tableau or similar visualization tools
- Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VBA, Macros) and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling business stories and recommendations
- Ability to work effectively with senior management
- Outcome oriented, problem solver who can synthesize information and business processes into clear impacts and benefits, with focus on delivering business value
- Demonstrated ability in executing strategic engagements with an emphasis on business strategy or process/productivity improvements
- Effective people management leadership and passion to mentor and develop talent
- Self-starter, strong business acumen, client focused, with the ability to influence decisions and drive changes at all levels
Nice-to-have
- MBA, CPA and/or CFA
- Excellent knowledge of Wealth Management industry
- In-depth knowledge of Wealth Management operations, products, and processes; familiarity with KYC/AML/QI/FATCA/CRS documentation requirements and coding
- CIRO Approved Person with Options licensing (or eligibility)
- Prior experience supporting Canadian investment dealers, trading operations, asset management, or wealth advisory businesses
- Familiarity with Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) rules and requirements
