Your opportunity:
The Facilities Management and Space Planning office manages a complex set of facilities for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine (TFOM), on campus and off – and is responsible for consultation, planning, design and implementation of sophisticated, complicated projects for highly specialized research and academic needs.
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) resides within The Division of the Vice-President Research & Innovation (VPRI) with the broad mission to ensure that an environmentally responsible, safe and healthy work, research and study environment exists at the University of Toronto.
As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture across the TFOM and work closely with the university’s EHS office. Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive risk assessments, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supporting the implementation of safety initiatives. With your strong communication skills, you will effectively engage a wide range of stakeholders to drive change and encourage alignment with safety protocols. Leveraging your extensive knowledge of biological, chemical, and radiation safety, you will conduct lab inspections, advise on emergency preparedness, and recommend risk mitigation practices. You will also deliver targeted safety training programs and collaborate closely with environmental health and safety colleagues to meet operational demands and advance health and safety programs.
