Job description

What is the Opportunity? As the Senior Manager, Policy Governance, this role will be a 2nd Line function primarily responsible for RBC Bank Policy Governance. You will assess RBC Bank’s compliance with the Enterprise Policy Management framework, ensuring all documentation is complete and timely. Additionally, you will evaluate the design and effectiveness of Risk Management Policies, Standards, and Procedures, ensuring documentation aligns with these policies and standards. The role includes acting as the Internal Audit liaison and collaborating with RBC Bank Compliance on external audit deliverables related to Risk Management. You will also support requests from Enterprise and CUSO concerning RBC Bank Risk and compliance, coordinate document updates, and contribute technical expertise in policy writing.

What will you do?
  1. Policy Governance: Assess RBC Bank’s adherence to Enterprise Policy Governance requirements, identify gaps, notify stakeholders, escalate issues, and track resolutions. Ensure policies, standards, and procedures are current and support bank safety and soundness. Manage new policy development, chair the monthly RBC Bank Enterprise Review and Policy Committee, and ensure documentation is aligned with control inventories and process maps. Keep the bank updated on policy changes and coordinate communication and implementation. Report on Risk Appetite measures.
  2. Audit Liaison: Serve as the liaison for Internal and External Audits (OCC, Fed), track requests, and ensure timely delivery. Confirm that frameworks, policies, and standards meet regulatory requirements, and address any gaps.
  3. Risks and Controls Oversight: Ensure operational risk controls are current and effective relative to current risks.
  4. Optimization & Efficiency: Innovate in evaluating operational processes, seeking simplification, speed, and efficiency improvements.
What do you need to succeed?
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 3+ years of Operational Risk experience with Policy responsibilities
  • 5+ years of Credit/Lending experience with Policy responsibilities
  • Senior-level experience in Risk Management, Policy, Compliance, Internal Audit, or Operational Risk within large financial institutions
  • Proven success leading large enterprise projects
  • Strong understanding of Policy Governance and change management
  • Experience liaising with auditors and regulators
