What is the opportunity?

As a subject matter expert in Registered Plans, you will lead relationship coverage and sales for a portfolio of institutional clients. Your success will stem from relationship management, delivering value, and expanding client relationships. You will collaborate with the Director to implement strategies, processes, and sales disciplines aimed at sustainable earnings and revenue growth.

What will you do?

Relationship Coverage and Sales

  • Manage a strategic client portfolio, overseeing sales targets, revenue growth, and client retention.
  • Develop and maintain influential internal and external partnerships to drive referrals and new client acquisition.
  • Lead complex client discussions, analyze root causes considering tax, legal, risk, and operational factors, and manage ambiguous situations by engaging stakeholders.
  • Create and implement tailored client strategies and action plans to increase wallet share, retention, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across client organizations, understanding their political landscape.
  • Take ownership of client issue resolution, ensuring efficient outcomes.
  • Expand connectivity across client businesses and leadership to position RBC as a trusted partner.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and manage portfolio risks.
  • Negotiate client agreements and trust arrangements with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and legal counsel.

Registered Plan Technical Support & Communication

  • Stay current with legislative developments affecting registered plans, reviewing relevant legal sources and court cases.
  • Represent RBC in industry discussions and committees related to tax, legal, and operational matters.
  • Prepare communications on legislative and industry updates, including client bulletins and thought leadership articles.
  • Review legal documents for client-specific issues, ensuring accuracy and risk compliance.
  • Identify policy needs arising from legal and tax issues and draft appropriate policies.
  • Provide research, comments, and recommendations on reviewed matters.
  • Create marketing materials for registered plans and retirement products with technical accuracy.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 7-10 years of experience in banking or investment industry.
  • Knowledge of registered plan types.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and policies.
  • Client management experience.
  • Experience delivering presentations to investment firms across Canada.

Nice to have:

  • Sales experience.
  • Proficiency in French, both oral and written.
