This role contributes to the success of Canadian Banking Finance – Day-to-Day Banking in Canada by ensuring the execution and delivery of specific goals and initiatives aligned with business strategies. It ensures compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures. The Senior Manager, Finance, Day-to-Day Banking, provides tactical and strategic financial analysis, supports decision-making, and maintains detailed knowledge of profitability drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage bank-wide systems and knowledge.
  • Lead business planning processes including profit planning, stress testing, and forecasting.
  • Manage the development of reports and dashboards, including performance commentary and variance analysis.
  • Develop and analyze business cases with financial modeling to support management decisions.
  • Collaborate with Canadian Banking Finance on product analysis reports such as PPA and Funds Transfer Pricing.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in profitability and competitiveness through business analysis.
  • Establish processes for planning, tracking, and reporting department expenses.
  • Prepare and present financial results to senior management regularly.
  • Consider the bank’s risk appetite and culture in daily activities and decisions.
  • Ensure effective operations and controls to meet operational, compliance, and conduct risks, including adherence to relevant frameworks and guidelines.
  • Promote a high-performance, inclusive work environment, managing team development and succession planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Professional qualifications such as MBA, CFA, or CPA are preferred.
  • FP&A experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Thinkcell).
  • Knowledge of bank reporting systems (e.g., OBI, Hyperion, Smartview) is an asset.
