What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Compensation Strategy and Governance is an integral member of the Compensation Governance Team, supporting RBC’s Board of Directors and senior management in overseeing compensation programs and practices. This role offers high exposure to senior leadership through policy development, frameworks, and disclosures. The individual will also develop compensation practices and lead initiatives to meet evolving global regulatory requirements. We seek a versatile candidate who thrives in a changing environment and aims to make an impact.

What will you do?

Public Disclosures

  • Prepare the Compensation Discussion & Analysis (CD&A) content for the annual Proxy Circular.
  • Benchmark peer proxies to understand industry best practices and emerging trends.

Executive Committee Planning and Coordination

  • Organize committee meetings, including setting agendas, coordinating materials, scheduling, and ensuring governance standards.
  • Support the Annual General Meeting by preparing senior leaders for Q&A on compensation.
  • Manage the calendar of events leading up to each committee meeting and year-end disclosures.
  • Proactively recommend process improvements.

Policy Review

  • Lead the review and annual update of Compensation policies, processes, and standards, including change management impacts.

Research and Advisory

  • Act as the main contact with global stakeholders (e.g., Law, Compliance) and collaborate with local teams to stay updated on legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Draft correspondence with regulators regarding legislative requirements or proposals.
  • Assess regulatory impacts and work with partners to implement action plans.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Undergraduate degree with 5-8 years of progressive experience in HR, risk, compliance, audit, finance, or regulatory roles.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong project management skills with sound judgment.
  • Experience (2+ years) working with policies, procedures, standards, and frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, suitable for senior audiences.
  • Interest and understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Collaborative team player.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory issues related to compensation.
