Job summary

Optima Living in Alberta is seeking a Recreation Manager to lead the planning and delivery of recreation programs that support resident wellness, engagement, and quality of life. This role develops diverse programming across seven wellness dimensions and fosters a supportive environment that promotes social interaction, physical activity and mental stimulation.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Gerontology, Health Sciences program or diploma or degree in health and wellness activities or two years of relevant experience in a seniors’ home.
• Minimum of one (1) year leadership experience in a residential care or mental health environment is required.
• Valid Class 4 driver’s license or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, support, guidance and mentorship to the recreation team.
• Oversees the coordination of work routines to meet daily resident needs.
• Develops and delivers programs across seven wellness dimensions to support resident well‑being.
• Maintains resident profiles and attendance records and uses insights to adapt programming.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team and community resources to enhance engagement.
• Manages safety, policies and ongoing quality improvements within recreation services.
