Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant with a focus on dishwashing and maintaining a clean, safe food preparation area for our residents. You will help ensure proper food handling, support dietary needs through accurate portioning, and participate in continuous quality improvement while upholding our ethics and resident-centered values. English literacy is required.

Qualifications

Empathy for elderly and ability to get along with residents.
Understand and follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
Understand and follow directions to serve food correctly and attractively according to portion control.
Ability to work accurately and quickly.
Able to read and write English.
Provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

To load, operate and empty dishwashers, putting the dishes away.
To maintain a clean cooking area, including work surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills and storage areas.
To damp mop floors.
To clean other kitchen equipment such as blenders and refrigerators.
To perform duties with cleanliness in mind.
To attend in-service training as required to better serve residents’ dietary needs.
To attend staff meetings to be aware of residence changes.
To participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
To uphold and promote the organization's values regarding ethics, morality and integrity.
To complete other duties as assigned.
