Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Cook Level I to prepare nutritious meals aligned with residents' dietary needs, safety standards, and quality expectations. You will contribute to resident wellness and satisfaction while upholding person-centered care and infection control policies.

Reporting to the Food Services/Support Services Manager, the role requires teamwork, flexibility to work varied shifts, and strong attention to hygiene and safety protocols within a senior living environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in food preparation.
• Experience in a residential care or mental health environment is an asset.
• Strong personal hygiene practices.
• Active Food Safe certification.
• CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food using roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, and baking as directed.
• Assembles and organizes ingredients and equipment for food preparation.
• Cooks and seasons menu items including soups, sauces, salads, and vegetables as directed.
• Plans cooking schedule to ensure nutrition and quality.
• Maintains food safety and sanitation standards and temp records.
