Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Cook Level II to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals aligned with residents’ dietary needs and safety standards. You will work under the Food Services/Support Services Manager and support person-centered care in a warm, home-like setting.

Responsibilities include menu planning, food safety, inventory, and back-up support for the manager. Ideal candidates have culinary certification, Food Safe, strong hygiene, and team orientation.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized culinary institute.
  • Active Food Safe certification.
  • Strong personal hygiene practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Ability to supervise when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with residents and team members.
  • Experience in residential care or mental health environment is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with residents' dietary needs and safety standards.
  • Plan cooking schedules to ensure quality and nutrition.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation plans.
  • Monitor temperatures of coolers/freezers and inventory levels.
  • Back up the Food Services Manager when applicable.
  • Respond to safety concerns and follow emergency protocols.
  • Assist with teamwork, meetings, and ongoing training.
