Job summary

Shannex Incorporated in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, is hiring a Cook to join the Parkland Antigonish team. You will plan and prepare meals following established standards and therapeutic modifications as needed, contributing to a high-quality dining experience for residents.

The role requires at least 2 years in a high-volume kitchen, a high-school diploma, and a current food handlers’ certificate (preferred). Competitive hourly wages and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen.
• Knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality and cost.
• Ability to read and follow detailed recipes and communicate in a team setting.
• Clear background checks may be required prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals according to established standards and menus.
• Assist with special functions and catering as needed.
• Report shortages or quality issues to the Executive Chef promptly.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitize equipment daily.
• Ensure meals are attractive, properly portioned, and served timely.
• Support resident orientation and respond to dining needs respectfully.
