Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Health and Wellness Manager in Canada to lead the nursing department and ensure day-to-day healthcare delivery complies with the Retirement Homes Act and related legislation. This role reports to the General Manager and oversees clinical operations and staff recruitment.

The position requires RN/RPN certification with the CNO, CPR/First Aid, and 3–5 years of leadership in senior housing, plus a strong focus on resident care, safety, and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current CPR & First Aid Certificate.
• Demonstrated experience with medication administration (if medications provided).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• 3–5 years of leadership roles in the senior housing industry.
• Knowledge of the Retirement Homes Act and applicable legislation.
• Demonstrated empathy for the needs of seniors.
• Experience in budgeting.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and nursing diagnosis.
• Willingness to update knowledge of changing regulations.
• Clear vulnerable sector screening within 6 months, TB results within 6 months, flu shot, and three references.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, delegates, and evaluates activities of the nursing department.
• Plans, assigns, and oversees Residents’ health and personal care services.
• Participates in inter-professional assessments and develops an individualized care plan.
• Implements and monitors quality improvement initiatives.
• Meets with Residents/Families to resolve problems and concerns.
• Organizes Resident care conferences on admission and every 6 months or as needs change.
• Maintains accurate health records.
• Reviews pre-medical assessments to ensure care capability.
• Acts as Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator for the community.
• Responsible for recruitment of associates.
• Completes performance appraisals of associates as required.
• Provides ongoing associate education.
• Maintains staffing schedules.
• Promotes the vision, mission, values, and Resident Bill of Rights.
• Performs any other assigned tasks.
