Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada is seeking dependable kitchen staff to prepare and serve meals for residents, guests and employees in our retirement communities. You will review menus, follow recipes and production sheets, and maintain safety standards while supporting therapeutic diets.

This role requires a Food Handler's Certificate and the ability to work flexible hours in a healthcare setting. A Red Seal is a plus and a Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.

Qualifications

• Food Handler's Certificate required.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of provincial food regulations and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Able to lift/transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Second language is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and staff.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare and serve attractively.
• Ensure proper food handling techniques.
• Complete daily temperature audits and record findings.
• Prepare foods for therapeutic diets per planned menus.
• Make substitutions as needed and record them.
• Adhere to service times and budgets.
• Comply with regulations and department policies.
• Participate in special occasion and theme meal days.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Respect Resident Rights and participate in QA.
• Follow safety legislation and departmental procedures.
• Work with vulnerable adults with integrity.
• Uphold ethics and organizational values.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
