Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada is seeking a Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and employees under the Culinary Manager. The role emphasizes quality, accuracy, and safe food handling in a healthcare setting.

You will review menus, follow production charts, and participate in staff meetings while adhering to budgets, diets, and provincial regulations. Experience in large-volume cooking and a Food Handler’s Certificate are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate
• Red Seal Certificate preferred
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare/retirement
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide
• Knowledge of special/therapeutic diets
• Physically able to lift and stand for long periods
• Second language is an asset
• Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver all foods for residents, guests and employees
• Review menus and production sheets before preparing meals and serve attractively
• Ensure proper food handling techniques
• Complete daily temperature audits and record findings
• Prepare meals for therapeutic/special diets according to menus
• Adhere to timelines for service and budget
• Follow production charts and standardized recipes
• Comply with provincial regulations and dietary policies
• Participate in planning special meals and attend trainings
• Uphold Resident Rights and participate in Quality Improvement
