Job summary

DWF (Canada) is seeking an experienced Litigation Associate (5-9 years’ call) to join our Calgary office. The role offers exposure to sophisticated insurance defence and civil litigation matters, with mentorship and opportunities to develop a long-term practice within a collaborative team.

You will manage your own files, work with senior counsel, and contribute to strategy, with a focus on client service, research, drafting, and the ability to navigate Alberta procedural rules.

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of post-call civil litigation experience.
• Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and contribute to insurance defence and civil litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, applications, opinions, and other litigation materials.
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations.

We Are Looking For a Lawyer Who Brings

• 5 - 9 years of post-call civil litigation experience
• Experience in insurance defence litigation is preferred; candidates with strong civil litigation experience from other practice areas are encouraged to apply
• Familiarity with the Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
