Job summary

Irving Oil is seeking a Senior Lead IT Security Architect to translate business strategy into secure, scalable technology architecture and risk‑aware solutions. You will guide security architecture across processes, information flows, and systems to enable strong business outcomes.

You will define strategies, lead complex designs, mentor IT architects, and collaborate with business leaders to balance security with performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/IT/IS or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years overall, 10+ years in system and security architecture roles.
• Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, cloud architecture, and TOGAF preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive security architecture strategies, principles, and standards aligned with business and IT security objectives.
• Maintain a comprehensive security architecture across business, information, systems, and technology domains.
• Conduct threat-aware architecture reviews to identify gaps, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
• Design and develop secure architecture solutions for infrastructure, applications, data, and technology platforms.
• Develop technical specifications for new platforms, services, and applications.
• Evaluate product and service compatibility to ensure secure integration across systems.
• Guide the creation of target-state architectures, roadmaps, and migration plans.
• Collaborate closely with IT partners and business leaders to balance business outcomes with cybersecurity risk.

As a Senior Lead IT Security Architect, you will translate business strategy into secure, resilient, and scalable technology architecture that protects the organization’s critical information and systems. Your goal will be to ensure cybersecurity architecture across business processes, information flows, and technology systems is designed and implemented in alignment with cybersecurity principles, architecture standards, and risk‑management practices. Your success will come from defining security‑focused architecture strategies, guiding complex infrastructure and application designs, proactively identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks, and leading the evolution from current‑state to future‑state architectures while partnering closely with IT architects and business leaders to enable strong business outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

Your Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or equivalent experience


• 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years in system and security architecture, design, development, and deployment


• Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, cloud architecture, cybersecurity technologies, and preferably TOGAF

The expected salary range for this position is $114,943- $201,151. Placement within the range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications and skills.
