Job summary

Canada West Land (CWL) is seeking a Senior Land Analyst based in our Calgary Office to lead land projects. You will direct project work, collect data, and ensure regulatory compliance while leveraging technology to deliver reliable land solutions across Western Canada.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in surface land projects, a broker environment background, and strong communication skills to train and guide the team.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Land Administration is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience on surface land projects or relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a broker environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Alberta and British Columbia regulatory processes.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Customer focus and adaptability.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Senior Land Analyst, based out of our Calgary Office, to take on a leadership role with the following accountabilities:

Project Timeframes, Objectives, and Communication
Training Responsibilities
  • Ensure CWL’s compliance as outlined in procedures
  • Train the team to meet project deliverables
Executing
  • Direct and manage project work, maintaining scope and schedule
  • Collect data and provide status reports
  • Apply subject matter expertise to analyst work
  • Adapt to changes (regulatory, environmental, etc.)
  • Utilize internal resources, including personnel and software
  • Weekly meetings with project team(s)
  • Clear understanding of scope and communicate to project team
  • Completion of check lists for tasks
Quality Assurance
  • Responsible for quality control throughout the project
  • Audit documentation for the acquisition of lands and third parties
  • Maintain land database with correct data
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
Create and Manage Documents and Reports
  • Analyze all documents associated with a task prior to starting and identify any support
  • areas
  • Preparation of documents (TWS, ROW, SL etc.)
  • Land title document preparation, submission, and registration
  • Obtain and manage receipt of third-party consents as part of third-party programs
  • Formatting reporting and line list to show a professional and consistent product
Maintain Knowledge and Current Legislation
  • Understanding of regulatory consultation and notification requirements
  • Ability to problem solve and research solutions on legislative requirements
  • Commitment to continuous learning and upkeep on technologies including but not
  • limited to the use of Artificial Intelligence to enhance productivity, decision making,
  • and efficiency
Health and Safety
  • Adhere to and stay informed on all Health & Safety requirements as outlined in the
  • organization's policies, procedures, and any relevant legislation
  • Follow established safety procedures and protocols
  • Use required controls to protect against potential hazards, including Personal Protective
  • Equipment (PPE)
  • Identify and report any unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or potential risks
  • Promote a culture of safety through active involvement, attending training, and
  • supporting teammates
Travel Requirements

Limited travel will be required for errands, mail, and other day-to-day tasks. Additionally, travel may be necessary for seminars, training, or visits to alternate locations. This requirement may change based on business needs.

Experience and Qualifications

We welcome candidates with a blend of relevant experience and/or education. The ideal candidate have:

  • Post-secondary education in Land Administration is considered an asset
  • Previous experience (5+ years) working on surface land projects or relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a broker environment preferred.
  • Other certificates or designations are an asset.
  • A strong understanding of Alberta and British Columbia regulatory processes and Consultation and Notification requirements.
