Job summary

Brunel seeks an experienced Senior Production Accountant for a Calgary-based role within an established oil & gas organization. You will lead production accounting, revenue and royalty reporting, system administration, and junior staff mentorship, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial data for non-operated assets.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Administration, you will drive month-end close, variance analysis, audits support, and continuous process improvements across Petrinex

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• CPA designation (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA).
• At least 6 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum 5 years in Western Canadian oil & gas.
• Strong production accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of Petrinex and Western Canadian reporting requirements.
• Experience with non-operated assets and JV accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, audits, and JV operations.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Previous leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle monthly production accounting for non-operated assets, including validation of operator statements and allocations.
• Prepare, validate, and submit Petrinex production reporting and amendments.
• Investigate variances and reconcile data with operators and stakeholders.
• Prepare and review production and revenue accruals and month-end entries.
• Calculate royalties based on production and pricing data; ensure compliance.
• Review master data for wells, contracts, royalties, and fees.
• Review cash calls and JIB transactions for accuracy.
• Lead month-end close activities and variance analysis.
• Mentor and lead the JV & Marketing Accountant and broader team.
